Medium collection

Human still wood

This collection includes mostly pine, thick, sturdy branches, that resulted from cutting wood for a fireplace.

Careful peeling procedures dominate in this collection as grinding and polishing techniques have been applied.

Most of the wood pieces were saved thanks to their anthropomorphic appearance and the “strong” character they exude. Often, they are placed on a heavy metal or marble base that stabilizes them.

The pebbles in this collection play mostly the role of a hat or a gift-offering. Overall, the artifacts in this collection have a symbolic meaning of the victory of life over death.

pairing contradictions

“Nature’s intensities and contradictions have always been deeply moving, to my eyes.

I find the way the wood complements the pebble particularly charming, even though they are such different and contradictory materials.”
