Description: Wild olive branch (Olea oleaster) resting on a rare brick fragment from Le Havre. In seahorses, the male receives the eggs from the female into a specialised abdominal pouch, where he carries them through development before giving birth to hundreds of fully formed young. This naturally sculptural piece of wild olive evokes a “pregnant” male seahorse at rest, poised upon a wave-smoothed brick recovered from the shores of Le Havre — a fragment originating from the ruins of the city devastated by bombing in 1944.
